From Client to Adviser
Turning down a lucrative career opportunity with an oil & gas firm, Jeremy took on a career which was close to his heart and it took him to the top of his game.
An IPPFA client at the time, Jeremy was introduced by his then-adviser to Mr Anthony Boon. Anthony, who was on the lookout for new advisers for his team, saw the potential in Jeremy and made him an offer. It took just one conversation with Anthony for Jeremy to realise that a career in financial advisory matched his values and life goals perfectly.
“We spoke about personal growth and development, something I strongly believed in and agreed that these areas should be prioritised over professional and financial growth. Also, because of values instilled in me by my parents since my childhood, I’ve also always wanted to do work where I could help others.”
Jeremy adds that his positive experience as a client at IPPFA also played a role in reinforcing his decision.
“I was an IPPFA client for three years before I joined the company. My then-adviser reviewed my insurance policies and helped to manage my CPF investment portfolio. Thanks to him, I was able to enhance my existing coverage with minimal extra resources. I also had peace of mind that my investments were well looked after,” he shares.

So, Jeremy made the life-changing decision to join IPPFA as an adviser, with Anthony as his mentor.

Good Old-fashioned Honesty
Right from the start, Jeremy wanted to know everything about financial advisory.
“Despite specialisation being a popular choice, I decided to be a generalist so that I could cover a wider scope in financial advisory for my clients,” he explains.
Today, Jeremy serves over 500 clients of varying backgrounds – from mass affluent to mass market.
Well-versed in many aspects of financial planning, he advises his clients in areas such as wealth protection, wealth accumulation, risk and asset allocation, estate planning and legacy planning.
And he wants to do more.
“Besides reviewing my clients’ financial situations, I sometimes try to add value by sharing things I’ve learnt which may also be of benefit to their everyday lives.”
Jeremy also prides himself in sharing honest advice with his clients that benefits their position, even if it means foregoing an opportunity to earn a commission.
Such approaches have built his clients’ trust in him, and many have shared that they feel comfortable with Jeremy because of his sincere approach to their adviser-client relationship.

Picking up the Baton
It has been nine years since Jeremy joined IPPFA. Today, he has an impressive list of qualifications under his belt. He is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), a four-time Producer Club Qualifier, and three-time Chairman Round Table (CRT) qualifier. He is also a certified Associate Financial Planner (AFP), Associate Estate Planning Professional (AEPP) and Associate Wealth Planner (AWP).
He credits much of his success to having a mentor by his side throughout his financial advisory journey.
“I have learnt so much over the years – great communication skills, even new values and the ability to see more from different perspectives. These have helped me immensely in holding conversations and building rapport with clients from various walks of life,” he shares.
Today, Jeremy himself is a mentor, having made a personal mission to help new advisers in the same position he was in when he first joined the company.
“In the last few years, I have mentored several new agents. One of my proudest moments as a mentor so far was when my first mentee achieved Producers’ Club status – making him one of IPPFA’s top advisers of 2018 – in his rookie year!”
So, what’s next?
“I am currently grooming trusted and capable advisers and will eventually hand over some of my clients to them as I focus on building my own team. My goal is to build a team that thrives on a culture that I have benefited from and believe in,” shares Jeremy.
