Jiewei, or perhaps better known as Jerry to many of you, has been a very good friend of mine since university days. He has always been a very loyal and genuine friend to many, going the extra mile to help us whenever we are in need.
He is also a very reliable, sincere adviser who is passionate about what he does and yet very eager to learn and enhance his skills and knowledge. As I have little knowledge in financial planning, Jerry constantly shows patience in explaining the terms and questions I have for him, even if it may not be related to the products I have purchased from him.
Apart from financial advice, Jerry never fails to share about his life and experiences that he feels will be helpful for me. He also never fails to thank us for our support in helping him to become who he is today, but truth be told, without him, I will still be a newbie in financial planning. I have met many other advisers in the past but no one is as passionate, sincere and trustworthy as him, especially on how rooted he is to his beliefs on why he wants to be an adviser.

I first met Jerry when his financial planning group was invited to give a lunch time talk at my office. When I expressed interest to find out more, he was assigned to follow-up with me.
Despite being relatively young, Jerry displays a fierce drive to excel in his craft, and is willing to put in the work to develop his skills in financial planning. What strikes me most is his warmth and sincerity in genuinely desiring to help his clients achieve their desired financial goals, instead of just pushing products across or try and sell whatever can net him the highest commission. He even goes beyond the call of duty in helping his clients on non-financial matters in whatever way he can. Even before I had bought a single product, he had already helped me to map out my financial situation and the various existing insurance products in my portfolio, in order to help me zoom in on the true gaps in my coverage. Jerry is never pushy, and I appreciate that greatly about him. He is only interested in advising you on what you really need, not what is good to have.

Jerry is my course mate from college and we are in the same clique of friends since Year 2. In 2014, he quit a sales position in the specialty chemicals industry to become an adviser.
As a good friend for almost a decade, Jerry is someone who keeps his promises and the trust I have in him is almost unparalleled. He always tries his best to accommodate to my convenience and is always early for our meet-ups.
As I have little knowledge in financial planning initially, Jerry has given me advice right from the basics for insurance and investment. Since 2014, he has relentlessly shared financial knowledge which has benefited me in many ways. In these five years, my grasp of financial terms has improved, which allows me to understand general financial news and updates. Jiewei is a university friend of mine. We were in the same course studying Chemistry, but his interest in financial management and investments started in his poly days. From what I recall, he had been actively attending investment-related talks and workshops and reading up about the industry in his free time.
Not long after graduation, he started off as an adviser in IPP. His first clients were his close friends, and he has remained very appreciative of their support, never forgetting them even when he went on to bigger clients. He would always be ready to answer any questions at any time and is willing to meet up at the client’s convenience to clarify any doubts even after the signing of a policy.
Jiewei is patient, professional and has gathered much experience in a short period of time. Despite this, he remains humble and still continues studying, attending related training and learning from his mentors and colleagues. As such, he has attained the Associate Financial Planner (AFP) certification. As his friend, I know that he often works late into the nights to ensure his clients receive the best service he can provide. Bilingual and genuine, it’s hard to imagine anyone who would find it difficult to speak with him.
During the times I met up with Jiewei to discuss my financial situation and goals, he meticulously drew up a financial plan and recommended insurance and investment products according to my needs and risk appetite. He never tried to sell something I didn’t want or need, and made sure that I had sufficient insurance coverage before looking at investment products. Although I didn’t know much about financial planning, I’ve picked up a few useful things from him over the years as he is very willing to share his knowledge. Through my interactions with him in the past 10 years, I must say he is certainly someone who is passionate about his work and has people’s best interests at heart.
